Controversial Facebook Photos of the Day: Air National Guard members Terran Echegoyen-McCabe and Christina Luna recently posted to Facebook several pics of themselves breastfeeding in fatigues — which they do all the time on Fairchild Airforce Base in Spokane, Washington – and their photos have prompted outcry from around the world.
No matter that there are no rules in military conduct against breastfeeding in uniform; one disparaging Facebook comment compared the images to “urinating and defecating.”
Fellow soldier Rita Trujillo commented:
“I as one of many women who fought long and hard to be accepted and respected as fellow soldiers and the right to wear these uniforms feel shocked, angry at these published photos.”The photos were taken for the Mom2Mom Breastfeeding Support Group, which raises awareness of women’s right to breastfeed in public.
America hates mothers in a way that is so insipid, you have WOMEN disparaging other WOMEN for doing what the breast was intended to do and being active engaged mothers.
And why?
Because “I as one of many women who fought long and hard to be accepted and respected as fellow soldiers and the right to wear these uniforms feel shocked, angry at these published photos.”
This is a statement made by a woman about how women feeding their children in their work fatigues damages her status and acceptance as a female soldier. Meaning motherhood is seen as something “weak” and breastfeeding is “dirty”.
Patriarchy is a hell of a drug.
These women fought long & hard for the right to wear these uniforms too. Do these people even hear the shit that comes out of their mouths? Fatherhood doesn’t damage status, but motherhood does? Oh my god. I may have to start screaming obscene things.
your feelings of shame society has convinced you to have over your body and everything marked “feminine” is showing
still, Sansa is a lot more safe in the Vale than she was in King’s Landing, especially seen as she was accused of Joffrey’s murder (it was definitely the Tyrells though) so I was quite pleased when she ended up there, even if it was with littlefinger
Yeah, i was pretty happy too; my general reaction was yay no more horrible abuse, but then creepy petyr.
I think that politically, accusing Sansa as well as Tyrion for the murder was politically convient for cersei; she wasn’t useful as a hostage or to hold the north anymore because boltons, but she still could have been a dangerous rallying point. Extra point; pretty dumb to put the son you hate together with the girl you’re holding as hostage; they didn’t come up with anything, but if Sansa hadn’t been so terrified, they could have wrecked hell for Tywin and Cersei. Tywin, stop thinking all your kids like you, you’re a dick!
arya is on her own in a city full of assassins with people ready to BLIND HER! I like the variety in all honesty, and I liked Eddard and also the Tully words are “family duty honour” if we’re talking about honour
Yes, they will blind her, but they will also, if she asks, take her to Westeros (bad idea) or find her a safe job, or a husband or whatever future she asks for, as long as she asks. If you’re talking about autonomy and consent here, Arya has it.
sansa’s a little inactive at the moment, I mean she’s reasonably safe. Arya’s just gone apeshit, the stuff that went on in the Riverlands with her just completely fucked her up.
the riverlands was legit so horrible, i felt an overwhelming black cloud of despair when ever I got to a chapter on it. I would actually say that, although she’s training to be an assassin and lose all sense of self, Arya is arguably in an equal/better position in terms of safety to Sansa, who is with PETYR CREEPER.
i mean, you don’t know what he’ll do.
but whatevs, if the books were just on those two, Catelyn, Brienne, and Samwell, i would be away laugh on a fast camel. yes i say that. ned can gtfo his honour is stupid and a dumb colour and it doesn’t match his skin tone because he’s a Stark, not an Arryn.
a definite need to HTFU in my opinion, where are you up to by the way?
Almost at the end of AFFC. ILU Cersei, but arming militant religious folk is never a good idea. Also; needs moar Sansa. And Arya has just gone straight off the deep end i swear.
point, although if you read on to the end of ADWD you’ll see why people may want Ser Barristan to be a major POV similar to the way Samwell & Jon are both POV characters
Hmm, I am intrigued. Eurgh, I love Sam. FAVOURITE. Although does he have to pee himself so much, really?
Still, lovely fellow.
